Cutie Pie

Welcome Home

My folks recently came home from their two-year mission in Europe.  They flew into Denver and were only expecting my brother, Owen, to pick them up.  But I thought it would be fun to surprise them so Gavin and I drove up to the airport.  They were happy to see us, especially Gavin holding his cute sign.  They arrived around 9:30pm and then we had to drive to Cheyenne, WY.

As we left the airport the weather turned bad--first to rain and then to a blizzard.  A drive that typically takes less than two hours took three hours.  We averaged about 30 mph.  We got stuck on the off-ramp in Cheyenne.  It was too steep and we couldn't get any traction.  By this time it was 12:30am.  Getting stuck made a big impression on Gavin because he likes to tell everyone we got stuck in the snow.  Thankfully a snowplow came along.  The driver put sand around our tires and then plowed the ramp for us.  One good thing did come of the blizzard.  My dad got to do his favorite hobby--shoveling snow off the driveway.  By the morning there was a good foot of snow on the ground.

Lost Tooth

Matt finally lost one of his top, front teeth.  He's been wiggling it for a couple of months.  He looks so cute with it out--like he's a boxer or hockey player.  As you can see, Gavin was quite excited, too.

Painting & Pinewood Derby

Gavin likes to waterpaint.  He takes it quite seriously.

Adam had a Pinewood Derby last month.  Gavin and some of his friends (Jackson Mills and Ethan Waters) were pretending to be tunnels during the practice runs.

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend.  Friday evening we drove up to Denver for a ward temple trip.  We had fun at the hotel with our friends.  The kids especially enjoyed the pool.  Saturday morning I went early to the temple and got to do some ordinances for Robert's cousin, who had passed away a couple of years ago.  That was a very special experience for me.  I really felt blessed to have that opportunity.  Then Robert took his turn and did the endowments for his great grandfather.  While he was at the temple, I took the boys to Chuck E. Cheese.  Everyone in our ward then met for lunch at a buffet.  We got home late, but not too late for the Easter Bunny to come.

Matt left a note for the Easter Bunny.  It said,
          "Dear Easter Bunny,
Can you leave me some extra peeps because I love peeps."
                                        Matt

Matt got double the amount of peeps.  In addition, he ended up sneakily eating Adam and Gavin's peeps, too.

Spring Break

This year for Spring Break we had planned on going to San Antonio, TX, for a week, but Matt got sick at the beginning on the week and we decided to stay home.  After a few days he felt better and we still wanted to do something fun.  We decided to try to get tickets to the NCAA Basketball tournament.  Kansas City was a venue and we knew KU was playing there.  We were able to get some really great tickets--row 5 from the court.  We were able to watch two games--Villanova vs. North Carolina and KU vs. Western Kentucky.  The boys were very excited.
Matt wanted to show his spirit--and try to get on TV--so he made a poster.  However, we went got to the Sprint Center in KC they wouldn't allow posters and we had to throw it away.  But he sure looks cute anyways.

This is Ben McLemore--Matt's favorite player.  In fact, Matt likes him so much he saved his money to buy an authentic KU jersey, #23.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Go KU!!!
