Basketball Season 2017

Basketball season has begun.  We have practice two nights a week and games on Saturdays.  Gavin is playing on his first team.  They are the Sharks.  His coach is Royce Rosales, whose son, Kobe, is also Gavin's teammate and friend.  His best friend, Blake Min, is also on the team.  So, you can always find Gavin and Blake chitchatting.  The coach usually has to get their attention, otherwise they are in their own world, talking away.  Gavin played in his first game yesterday.  No score is kept, nor is traveling called.  If the refs did call traveling, it would take forever to play a game.  Gavin is still learning the rules.  He's pretty decent at defense, but still needing to work on offense.  He puts so much effort into playing.  He is jumping around, waving his arms constantly.  It's adorable.  He's not exactly sure what to do but he sure is trying to do something.

Gavin dribbling the ball down the court.  We put his name on his jersey.  He loves it.

Matt is in his 5th year of playing basketball.  His coach, like most past years, is Kyle Korf.  Most of his best friends are on his team again, too--Carter & Bryce Fuchs, Jace Korf, Tyler Williams.  He has played with these boys for years and with many different teams and leagues.   It's interesting to see who makes up the other teams of this current league.  The boys that are truly into basketball have all played on at least one team with Matt.  In fact, when Matt starts up the spring league, many of his teammates will be boys from the other current teams.  Next year, Matt will be in 7th grade and we've been able to determine which boys he will play with at his middle school.  Sadly, his best friends will be at the other middle school, but he knows most of the boys that will be at his school.
Matt plays either point or shooting guard, depending who's on the court.  Here he is with Carter Fuchs.

Branson 2017

The boys have really been pushing me to start up our blog again. They enjoy reading the books we published with our previous blog posts. So, here we go again. I guess the most appropriate starter post would be our first excursion of 2017. We spent our first weekend of the year in Branson, MO. We didn't know beforehand that between January-March, all the shows and many hotels and restaurants are closed for the winter season. It was a bit of a ghost town. But still we had fun. We went to Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Springfield.  Next we headed to Lambert's Cafe, home of the throwed rolls. Huge portions-lots of good food-and throwed rolls. Later that evening, Adam got sick. He and I stayed in the unit while Robert, Matt and Gavin went swimming.
School has now begun. We're back to our normal lives. Matt and Gavin are playing basketball. And Adam is prepping for another Duke summer course.
