The Second Week with Our Three Sons

We made it through another week. Gavin really is a sweet baby. He doesn't fuss very much. And he's a great sleeper. For the past three nights, he has gone five hours between feedings. I nurse him between 10-11pm and he sleeps until 3-3:30am. Yippee!! Adam and Matthew are enamored with him. Matt keeps calling him "precious baby". All of our help has gone home so we're on our own now. Robert has this week off so is helpful. He's been able to take off three weeks. Next week when I'm by myself will be the true test. Thank goodness it's summer break and I don't have to get the boys up and ready for school.

Matthew finished Preschool and had his graduation this past Wednesday. He looked so cute in his cap and gown. Of course, he felt a bit self-conscious and didn't really want to pose for pictures. In this photo with his teacher, Ms. Janine, he had to say his name and tell what he wants to be when he grows up. He said he wants to be a ninja.

Adam had his last awards assembly of the school year on Wednesday, too. He was most excited about getting a running award. He received a Silver Medal for running the second most miles this spring semester. His school has a running program. The students use their after-lunch recess (15 minutes) to run laps. Adam is very motivated to do this and would run 1.25-1.5 miles everyday. He was able to run 55 miles this semester. He was the youngest student to receive a medal.

First Week

It's been a week since Gavin was born. And we're still hanging in there. He really is an easy, sweet baby. He nurses great and sleeps well. The nights haven't been too bad. He generally falls asleep quickly after he nurses. And as long as I get a couple of naps in during the day, I feel pretty good. We've had lots of help with Adam and Matt and meals and cleaning and everything. Which definitely makes things much easier. Today was Gavin's due date. It also happens to be our 13th wedding anniversary. Rob and I are going out to eat tonight while Grandma takes care of all three boys.

Before & After

Before: Here's a photo of our family on Mother's Day.
After: Here's a photo of our family the next day. Gavin Michael was born early Monday morning at 7:15. He weighed 6 lb. 10 oz and was 19 inches long.

Mom and Gavin together. So far, he's been a great sleeper, a lazy eater, and quite mellow.

Celebrate!!

Adam had a big celebration this morning. A couple of months ago he told us he wanted to buy a Nintendo DS. We figured out the price and told him that we would split the cost with him. He was determined to earn it as quick as possible. He saved all of his weekly allowances and any extra dollar he received. On a couple of occasions when he had earned dinner at McDonalds, he told us he'd rather have the $3 than the food, to put towards his savings. He was able to save $70 in two months. He wanted to save enough to buy the Nintendo DS and a Star Wars game. We made a "thermometer" chart to track his progress. He was very excited to receive it this morning. He later told us that he now knows he can save his money for the things he really wants. What a great lesson to learn at 7 years old.
