Adam Update

I've been thinking about Adam a lot lately. It was three years ago this past week that Adam was diagnosed with OCD and starting his rigorous therapy. I was talking with him about it and he said he doesn't even remember any of the rituals he used to do. I was surprised that he didn't have any memory of washing his hands constantly and thinking everything was contaminated. Now he can so how illogical those actions were. He has been doing great. He says he doesn't feel like he has OCD anymore. That would be nice, but unrealistic, since it's a lifelong disorder. He is doing so well that he hasn't had any treatment or medication since last summer.
I've also noticed that he seems more easygoing and happy, and he doesn't take himself or life so seriously. He laughs at himself more readily. It's really refreshing to see him more relaxed. I've noticed this since he was baptized, so I think it is the Holy Ghost that is calming him.

Favorite Things

This cupboard has become Gavin's favorite place to play in the kitchen. I cleared most of it out so we could keep a few play things in there for him. It also has become my saving grace while trying to prepare meals. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam and Matt like to play a magic trick game with Gavin. They hide a small pink or red cup under a larger purple cup, rotate the cups and then see if Gavin can pick the correct one. Of course, he has no idea what's happening but he loves the attention from his brothers. It's really quite cute to see.

8 Months

Gavin is now 8 months old. This year is going quickly. Although, when I think back to the summer, it seems like such a long time ago. Weight: 17 lbs. 12 oz.
Height: 27 inches

As the pictures show, his mobility has greatly increased this month. He is crawling and trying to pull himself up on anything and everything. He has five teeth now. The three on the top came in this month. He is enjoying trying new foods and is starting to eat "table" food--yogurt, cereal, bread. He can feed himself Cheerios now. This is a new found freedom for him.

He has learned to shake his head 'no'. This has become a favorite game for Adam and Matt. They ask Gavin a question and he shakes his head 'no'. Such as, "Do you like Adam/Matt? No." "Do you want to take a nap? No." And my favorite--"Does Mom have a big butt? No."
Gavin has been very clingy and cuddly this month, always wanting to be held by Mom.
He blows lots of raspberries and likes to squeal--usually with his mouth closed, so it sounds more like a baby trumpet. He has taken a couple of baths in the big tub and seems to enjoy them. Matt joined him for one of them and that was a bit intimidating for Gavin.
